Why do so many weeds grow in my yard?

Weed problems can be an indication that there is an underlying problem; either the grass coverage is thin and unhealthy, the root mass is weak and insufficient, the ground is staying wet, and/or the cultural practices that are used to maintain the lawn are favoring weed growth. The only true way to control weeds is to promote more grass. If a particular weed grows in your landscape it is because that environment is favorable for that weed to thrive in. Creating soil balance, correcting mowing and watering techniques and promoting vigorous grass growth are the best practices to control weeds.
